Audrey E. (Johnson) Aiken, 79, died Sunday July 25, 2004 at The Clough Center in New London, NH.
She was born in Waltham, MA on June 25, 1925 the daughter of Richard S. and Elsie (Larson) Johnson. She spent her early years there and graduated from Waltham High School, Class of '43. Mrs. Aiken had lived in the Newport/Sunapee area since 1949. She and her husband operated Aiken's Antiques in Sunapee for many years. She had also worked as a jewelry buyer for Harrington's Jewelers in Newport.
Mrs. Aiken was a member of Aurora Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star, the South Congregational Church Women's Group and an active volunteer at the Thrift Shop, all of Newport, NH. She was also a member of the Sunapee United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Aiken was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William H. Aiken, Jr. in 2000, a daughter, Claudia (Aiken) Hodson in 1987 and a brother Richard Johnson of Waltham, MA.
She is survived by her daughter Candace Aiken Wilson and her husband Warren of Francestown, NH; a son, Scott W. Aiken and his wife Deborah of New London, NH; 4 grandchildren, Zachary A. Wilson, Nathan W. Wilson, Christopher S. Aiken and Nicholas A. Aiken; one great grandson, Alexander A. Wilson; a sister in law, Alice (Sandstrom) Johnson of Waltham, MA and an aunt Norma L. Lundquist of Virginia.
There are no calling hours. Memorial services will be held on Friday July 30, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the Sunapee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Williams officiating.
