Shirley Adkins Obituary

1937 - 2004
LEXINGTON%% Graveside services, with fraternal rites, for Shirley Ann Adkins, 67, of Lexington, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at Southland Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Mark Bredholt. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to Tri-County Hospice.

Ms. Adkins passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 29, 2004. Born April 30, 1937, in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Alice Vest Watkins Robertson. Ms. Adkins was of the Baptist faith and previously attended Helping Hands Adult Day Care. She was also a member of Cayce Moose Family Center.

Ms. Adkins is survived by her five children, Louise D. Goodwin of North Carolina, Emery P. Adkins of Pine Ridge, Teresa Williams (Ronnie) of the home, Charlene R. Adkins of Gaston, and Charles R. Adkins, III of Lexington.

Ms. Adkins is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Daniel P. Leaphart of Lexington, Billy E. Dowd, Jr. of North Carolina, Michele D. Dowd, and Allison Joy "AJ" Williams, all of North Carolina, Ashley R. Adkins, Amber M. Adkins, Eric Charles M. Adkins, all of Gaston, Tia Davenport, Ari Davenport, both of Lexington, Christopher Faust; and her great grandson, Talmadge (Tal) L. Hutto of North Carolina.

Also surviving are her former husband and father of their children, Charles R. Adkins, Jr. of Pine Ridge; and her brother, Larry D. Robertson of Santee.

Ms. Adkins was predeceased a great granddaughter, Kayla Michele L. Dowd.

Ms. Adkins daughter, Teresa, would like to extend a "special" thanks to Dr. Donna Ray and staff at Senior Primary Care, Tri-County Hospice and Congaree Pharmacy and staff, for all your compassion and professional help in our time of need. God bless you all.
