BERKSHIRE – Romeo P. Coulombe, age 50 passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning November 21, 2004 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington as the result of an automobile accident.
Romeo was born in St. Albans on September 25, 1954 the son of the late Laurent & Lucianne (Paquette) Coulombe.
Romeo was a life long resident of Berkshire and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. As a young man he worked for Gabe Godin hauling hay, then for the St. Johnsbury Railroad and for Luc Desautel as an equipment operator. He then started R.P.C. & Son Bulldozing which he operated for many years with the help of his son Alan. Romeo was a former pack leader for the Berkshire Boy Scouts. He loved to hunt and fish and most of all spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Vetter) Coulombe of Berkshire; his son, Alan Michael Coulombe of Berkshire; his former wife and Alan’s mother, Joanne Getty of Enosburg; his step son, Irving Wetherby and his wife Christina of Berkshire; a step daughter, Stacy Betournay of Connecticut; step grandchildren, Kyle Betournay, Jade Wetherby, Taylor, Keagen & McKenzie Wetherby; 2 brothers, Claude Coulombe and his wife Cathy of Richford, and Leo Coulombe of Enosburg Falls; a sister, Denise Bockus and her husband Richard of Stanbridge Est, Quebec; 1 niece, Danielle Coulombe; 3 nephews, Joey, Andy, and Ricky Bockus; several aunt, uncles & cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his aunt and uncle whom raised him, Victor & Lillian (Boucher) Paquette.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning November 26, 2004 at 10:00 at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford.
