Melvin M. Alexander, 88, Chesterfield, passed away March 9, 2007 at Rawlings House after an extended illness.
He was born September 5, 1918 in Greenville, OH, the son of Harley J. and Mary (Gibbs) Alexander. He was the co-owner of Alexander & Son Contracting.
Melvin attended West Anderson Church of God until recent years when he attended the Chesterfield Community Church of God. He enjoyed traveling and helping his family at canoe country.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Juanita Alexander; four children, Melva S. (husband, Reese) Willis of Muncie, Marilyn (husband, Jerry) Shelton of Pendleton, Rebecca (husband, Jerry) Mills of Anderson and Michael (wife, Cindy) Alexander of Rushville; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Arnold; brothers, Albert Alexander, Merl Alexander and James Alexander; and half brother, Delbert Alexander.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Brenner and Dr. C. D. Oliver officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
