Rudolph Evret Battista, 79, of Minerva, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, in his residence. Born in Waynesburg, Ohio on March 18, 1924, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Asunta (Tamburri) Battista. He practiced law in Minerva with his son in Battista and Battista, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Minerva, the Minerva Rotary Club, was former Carroll County Probate and Juvenile Court Judge, Carroll County Prosecuting Attorney, Minerva Village Solicitor, a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Carroll County Bar Association, Chairman of the Minerva Chapter of the American Red Cross, a member of American Legion Post 357 and VFW Post 4120 having served in the United States Army Air Corp in WWII.
He is survived by his wife Anne (Borsenberger) Battista whom he married in 1948, sons and daughters-in-law Andrew C. (Kathie) Battista of Johnson City, TN; R. Scott Battista of Boulder, CO; Clark E. (Jan) Battista of Minerva; daughters Julie A. Battista of Minerva and Lisa N. Battista of Hunting Valley, Ohio; grandsons Carter and Ellis Battista of Minerva and Anthony Battista of Johnson City, TN; and brother William Battista of Lisbon, Ohio. He is preceded in death by brothers Paul, Ray, and Frank and sister Laurena DiSabato.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Minerva, at 11:00 AM Monday, April 7, 2003 with Rev. John Lane officiating. Friends may call at the Bartley Funeral Home Sunday 7-9 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church.
