Ronald Allen Obituary

1955 - 2007
Ronald Dean Allen, 52, of Derby passed away August 21, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 9, 1955 in Newport a son of Moses and Dorothy (Brooks) Allen. On August 1, 1998 he married Mary Champagne who survives him. He graduated from North Country Union High School in the class of 1974. Mr. Allen was a self employed carpenter for most of his life. Some people are not of this time, and Ronnie was one of them. He crafted a life out of ancient ways, hunting, fishing, trapping, carpentry. And he spent most of it within miles of his birthplace-Island Pond,Vermont-because there was no better place in the world to him. He knew the trees, the lakes, the rivers, and everything in them. Anyone who knew him, whether close friend or new acquaintance, he had a story to tell about hunting or fishing. Watch out for Ronnie: he didnít shoot the largest buck, the most elusive bear, and still have time to reel in the biggest fish ever seen in Vermont. This is the legacy he leaves to his children and grandchildren, be a part of the world, be a part of nature. Live life on your own terms, because thatís the way he lived his. Be good to each other and be willing to make mistakes. Live fully, not perfectly, because perfection is an impossible task. Be a part of the community, not just the community of people, but the community of nature. Be a part of the whole. If you were to look out the front porch of Ronnieís home, youíd see a panorama of mountains. Maybe a deer crossing the road, or a hawk flying through the trees. This is his home now; this is his peace. He is a part of the whole. Some people are not of this time, and now Ronnie is a part of all time. He is survived by his wife Mary Allen of Derby, his children Dillon Allen, Paul Allen, Nicholas Tardif, Joselyn Tardif, Kristen and William Glover, Melanie and Army Specialist Charles Jetter, his parents Moses and Dorothy Allen of Island Pond, his brothers Steven and Connie Allen of Merrimack, NH; and Robert Allen and his companion Melanie and his children of East Charleston, nieces: Julie and Melissa, and by his grandchildren: Owen Allen and Nathan and Wyatt Glover. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday August 25, 2007 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel, 37 Lake Road, Newport with the Rev. Roger Fletcher officiating.
