RICHFORD, VT / LINCOLN, ME - Alfred N. Davis, age 86, died Sunday April 20, 2003 at a Lincoln health care facility.
He was born in Richford, October 30, 1916 the son of the late Madison James & Myrtle May (Monteith) Davis.
Alfred was a resident of Lincoln, ME since 1941 where he worked for Atlas Plywood. He convinced Atlas Plywood to buy a bulldozer for him to operate until he could start his own business. Shortly thereafter, Alfred started his own construction business, and owned and operated several types of heavy equipment, including cranes of various sizes. He worked on the Bomarc Missel Base, the Cutler Naval Base Communication Center, as well as several other Maine area projects.
He is survived by his beloved companion Hilda Washburn of Lincoln, ME; a nephew, Robert Holland and his wife, Leslie of Tennants Harbor, and their son Morgan of North Attleboro, MA; a niece, Phyllis Hopkins and her family of Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by a son, Madison Davis, and a sister, Harriet ( Davis) Holland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 26, 2003 at 2:00 pm, at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery.
