Clarence L. Broome, 76, of Homer, Georgia, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict who served for 26 years, and a former warden with the Georgia State Prison System, died at his residence on Monday, October 16, 2000, following an extended illness. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 17, 2000, and Wednesday, October 18, 6-9 p.m., at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1370 Industrial Boulevard, Cornelia, Georgia. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 19, at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Clyde Garrison and the Rev. Perry Smith. Burial will be at VFW Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Austin Kelly. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Guard of Fort McPherson, Georgia.
