Alex Charles Veselka, 87 of Taylor, Texas was called by his Heavenly Father to be with his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen, on Saturday, February 26, 2011.

Preceding him in death is his parents, Raymond and Mary Ann Veselka; wife, Helen; brothers, Edmond and Raymond Veselka; and sister, Elizabeth Meyer.

Rev. Msgr. Lonnie Urban will host The Celebration of Life Mass that will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 3rd, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Alex began his life's journey 10/12/23 in Taylor and was baptized in St. Mary's Catholic Church. As a young boy Alex worked hard for his parents in the family BBQ Café in Taylor. To make ends meet as a young married couple he worked in a local bakery. He found his passion in cars. He passed on his knowledge through a work-study program and trained a number of young men in the automobile paint and body work trade who still have shops of their own today. Later in his years he became known for his talent and expertise with restoring classic and antique cars. He received many awards from General Motors and paint manufacturers for his unique talent in the business.
He was a loving, hardworking father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved dancing, fishing, hunting, BBQs, fish fries and playing dominoes. He never met a stranger and was always wiling to help others. His volunteer work began as a volunteer fireman and extended to the St. Mary's School and CYO. He also participated in and held offices in the Optimist Club, the Taylor Jaycees and the Knights of Columbus.

Those that will hold the warm, wonderful memory of Alex's smile and winks include his daughters, Annette Maruska and her husband Gary of Taylor, Texas, Beverly Stiba of Waco, Texas and Janine Kasper and her husband, Shannon of Larkspur, Colorado. His grandchildren; Yvette Lowry and her husband, Chance, Matt Maruska and his wife, Kendi, Eric and Elissa Stiba. Great Grandchildren; Cole, Gage, and Gunner Lowry, Tate and Tori Maruska and Jace Saulters. Brother-in-laws; Jim Marek and wife, Isabelle; Sister-in-laws Evelyn Klima and husband, Alvin, Alice Grieger, Avis Veselka; special cousin Georgie Kasparek and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be his grand children, great-grand children, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the SPJST, Seton Hospital in Round Rock and the Lighthouse Altenheim also in Round Rock. It was a privilege to work with them through our Dad's illness. Their compassion and kindness will be cherished as we know our Dad was in comfort and peace as he ended his life's journey. Donations may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church School Trust Fund at 408 Washburn, Taylor Texas 76574 , The Lighthouse Altenheim at 100 N. College Street, R
