Maxine Ann Mizera, 77, Bismarck, died July 13, 2009, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a Rosary/Divine Mercy Chaplet will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Maxine was born June 29, 1932, in Selby, S.D., the daughter of Peter and Theresa (German) Raba. She grew up and attended school in Lemmon, S.D. After high school, she worked various jobs, including a jewelry store clerk in Lemmon and as a head teller in Minneapolis. She married Donald F. Mizera on June 12, 1951. Together, they resided in the Dakotas, where Donald worked as a music director in various schools. Together, Donald and Maxine had a passion for music and dancing.
Maxine had a love of God, family and especially children. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, gardening, bird watching and the companionship of family pets. She also volunteered at St. Vincent's Care Center and for various church activities.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Donald Francis, Bismarck; her son, Donald Paul Mizera, Bismarck; her five daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita Mizera, Moorhead, Minn., Cynthia (John) Fisher, Austin, Minn., Laura (Robert) French, Mandan, Donna (Reed) Stevens, Rapid City, S.D., and Anne Mizera, Bismarck; her nine grandchildren, Lisa, Jennifer, Jill, Stacy, Jennifer, Levi, Zachary, Brianna and Abby; and her three grandsons, Malik, Isaiah and Malcolm. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Jonas; and her brother, David Raba.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Francis Raba.
