Anna Gasper
Anna Gasper, 94, passed away on February 10, 2010, at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville. She was born on July 28, 1915, a daughter of the late Paul and Anna Dryska Mayton, and received her education in local schools. Anna and Stephen Gasper were united in marriage in 1938, a loving union of 57 years until his death in 1995. She was employed by General Electric, Sauquoit Valley Central School cafeteria and, for almost 20 years, with her husband, Steve, operated Gaspers Hotel in Clayville. Her memberships included Valley Stars Chapter 217 O.E.S., Rebekah Lodge 429, Wicks-Staley Post 231 Ladies Auxiliary, the Clayville Library Club, Sauquoit Community Club, the Clayville Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, the Little Falls Lutheran Church and she was a faithful communicant of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Clayville. Anna is survived by her nieces, Pamela Mayton, Susan Mayton, Donna Saville, Jacqueline Mizerak and Shelia Galbraith; her nephews, Michael Hryb, Thomas Hryb, Peter Hryb, Rodney Mayton, Mark Mayton, Steven Mayton, Milan Krchniak and Stefan Krchniak; and many great-nieces and nephews. Anna was especially grateful for the care and assistance from her niece, Pam, and her nephews, Mike and Peter. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dorothy OBrien, in 1995; her sister, Elizabeth Hyman, in 1997; her sister, Christina Hryb, in 2002; her brother, Samuel, in 1998; and her brother, Martin, in 1989. A celebration of Annas life will take place Saturday, April 10, at 11:00 at the Bridgewater Congregational Church. Interment in Sauquoit Valley Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit.
