Frank peacefully entered into rest with his family at his side at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY on Monday, July 26, 2010. He was 88. Frank lived in Marlboro, NY. He was a 51-year area resident.
On April 6, 1922, he was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Paul and Josephine Mione DiBona. Both parents predeceased their son.
Frank married his childhood sweetheart, Rosemarie Prinzi. After a 63-year marriage, Rosemarie entered into rest on July 12, 2008. Dad eventually died of a broken heart.
Frank was a machinist in the Brooklyn Navy Yard working on the Battleship Iowa. After his service in the Navy Yard, Frank worked for many years in the Ladies' Garment Industry in both Brooklyn and Newburgh. Frank served as the president of Newburgh Local 156, Ladies Garment Workers Union LLG.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane McLaughlin and her husband, James of Marlboro; two sons, Paul DiBona and his wife, Nancy of Union, NJ and Louis DiBona and his wife, Margaret of Edison, NJ; four grandchildren: Michelle McLaughlin Pomarico and her husband, Michael, Frank McLaughlin and his fiance, Eileen Jagusch, Courtney DiBona and Adam DiBona; one great-grandchild, James Vincent Pomarico; and several nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his brother, Joseph DiBona and his sister, Jean Lamia.
There will be private visitation for family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m. for family and friends in St. Mary's Church, Marlboro. Reverend Edward Bader will be the celebrant.
Cremation in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh will be private at the convenience of the family.
