Dear Barbara and family,

My sincerest and heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. After reading all the wonderful comments on line about David, I never thought I would be writing one for the first time. I am glad we spent some time together at the Hall of Fame functions. I know how you must miss David, as I do Bobby. It is not easy and it will take some time but the good memories will never fade, they will always be in your heart. You have a wonderful family to give you support and that means a lot. I'm glad I got to talk with David when he got out of the hospital. He will be remembered by all he knew and especially missed by all his family. God Bless you and your family at this difficult time.
Love, Kathleen Sgro and Family

Dear Barbara and fmily,I was deeply saddened to hear about David's death. I didn't know that He had ALS or was even sick.We 55 graduates will all surely miss him,I know I will. I can truly say that I have never heard anyone say anything bad about David or Him say anything bad about anyone. Dear Barbara,
Daylon and I were saddened to hear of Dave's passing. We worked together and were part of the infamous carpool on C shift at Stockton Street in the early 70's.
The group was Jerry Hollandsworth, Frank Pajakowski, and Dave. We all hated C shift but by the time we got to work, everyone was in a good mood. We stayed in touch through the years, when we were at the MC. He beat me to retirement but I did get to chat with him at a friend's funeral in Chesapeake, VA. I will miss him.

David was a freshman at the U of R when I was a senior . He was one of the nicest people i ever met . He was well liked and respected . He , George Riggs ( a good friend of his) and others teased me about my "bird " legs and wondered ( out loud ) how I could stand up ,let alone play football . David was a "great running back " and very , very fast Over the years , David kept old timers like myself apprised of activities of ex players and U of R activities in general . He will be sorely missed .

David was a freshman when I was a senior at the UofR. He was one of the nicest young men I have ever met . He had many friends and was a student athlete . He was a "geat " running back and very fast . I have "bird" legs and David, George Riggs and others expressed wonderment at my ability to stand let alone play football . Over the years ,David kept "old timers " like myself apprised of Uof R ex players and activities at Richmond . Many times he would convey information throught a mutual friend , Warren Mills. David will be sorely missed . God Bless his wife , children and many friends .

I was sorry to learn of the news about David. I work for David for a number of years at Philip Morris when the Manufacturing Center in Richmond was just opening back in the mid 70's. He was one of the best bosses I had while at Philip Morris and a good friend to me at that point in my life. I respected David very much and I know he will be missed by many. You and your family will be in my prayers during this difficult time.

Words just can't do it. David, as my boss, mentor, and friend taught me by example. He was a rallier of people and a great motivator. Most positive person I've ever known and that is what he gave me. A storybook life and family. Best of friends all around him from years gone by to the more recent ones. A genuine friend that never forgot. I hurt from his passing as all that knew him do. He will continue to watch the young atheletes develop into better atheletes from his mentoring. He recently told my youngest son Jerry not to use the straight-arm too soon or the tackler will use the arm to tackle him down. Always helping young men grow. He has now been inducted into the most important Hall of Fame in heaven. Man to man love David.
