Margery Caddick Obituary

GANSEVOORT Margery Olver Caddick of Endwell, N.Y. died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at her daughter's home in Gansevoort. She was born July 4, 1916, in Endicott, N.Y. She was the daughter of William and Flossie Olver. After high school, Margery was employed by IBM. In 1943, she joined the Women's Army Corps and served as a photographic laboratory technician in the Philippines during the Pacific Campaign of World War II. While there, she met Arnold Caddick of New Hampshire. Upon returning to the United States, they were married at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in 1946. Margery's most enduring gift was as a loving wife and mother. She was always actively involved in her community. A lifelong member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, she served 25 years as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the altar guild, and a volunteer for the CHOW food pantry. She was a 70-year member of the Round Hill Chapter No. 104 of the Order of the Eastern Star. For many years she was a Girl Scout Leader. With her children grown, she became a bridal consultant for Ruby and Sons Jewelers on Washington Avenue in Endicott. During that time she was active in and served as president of Greater Endicott Business and Professional Women's Association. Her husband, Arnold, predeceased Margery in 1989. She is survived by her sister, Jane Reed of Endicott, her two daughters, Pamela Kelly and her husband, Chris, Valerie Clarke and her husband, Jim, both of Gansevoort; and a son, Arnold Caddick and his wife, Deborah, of Endicott, N.Y. She also leaves five grandchildren: Jennifer Caddick, Justin Caddick, Meghan Caddick, Heather Kelly, Shannon Kelly; a great-grandson, Cyrus Kelly; and two special nieces, Deborah Wirag and Laura Jean Beeler. The family is thankful for the loving care she received from Bonnie and Lynette, and the care and attention received from Dr. Hill and his nurse Jamie. Her family will receive friends to celebrate Margery's life Wednesday, April 2, from 4 to 6 p.m., at 359 Ruggles Road, Gansevoort. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church Endicott, N.Y. at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, with the Rev. Susanna Des Marais officiating. The service will be followed by a luncheon at the church. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. with full military honors accorded. I have many fond memories of your mom from working with her at Ruby and Sons. She was a true "lady" and I always enjoyed learning from her. There are many, many brides in the Triple Cities who had the pleasure of buying their china and crystal from Mrs. Caddick.
I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the funeral service. My thoughts are with the Caddick family.

For Mrs. Caddick's Family,

I have wonderful memories of your mom...she was a true lady and a thoroughly modern woman. Our childhood on Hastings Avenue was enriched by her laughter and the kindness she showed to each of us.
With heartfelt sympathy .

Your mother was a wonderful person and always asked how people were doing. My grandson, Nico had been diagnosed with leukemia at age 4 yrs and Marge always asked how he was doing and prayed for him. Nico is now 14 years old and in high school and doing well and is cancer free and I know her prayers and those of many others are the reason he is well today.

To all the Caddick Family, I worked with your Dad many years ago in Endicott and have many wonderful memories of the outstanding gentleman he was and the great love he had for Marge. A beatiful couple who gave you all a great foundation for life. It is an honor to have known them both. May the good times you shared be a source of comfort to you all. With great respect.
