Joan M. Belanger

LAKE LUZERNE Joan M. Belanger, 75, of Ralph Road, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Dec. 27, 1932, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie Mae (Daha) Corlew. Mrs. Belanger attended St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls. She married Joseph J. Belanger on Feb. 10, 1962, in Hudson Falls. The couple has resided on Ralph Road in Lake Luzerne for more than 40 years. Mrs. Belanger was first employed as a seamstress at the Troy Shirt Makers Guild in Glens Falls for several years. She then worked for many years as a cook at Jack's Place Restaurant, in Corinth, until her retirement. Mrs. Belanger attended the Church of the Holy Infancy in Lake Luzerne for several years. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles and being a grandmother. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by two sisters, Marjorie Vander Els and Linda Belanger-Randall; and two brothers, Alfred and Richard Corlew. Survivors besides her husband of 46 years include two sons, Jean-Guy Belanger and Michael Belanger, both of Lake Luzerne; one daughter, Emelia "Amy" Waters and her husband, David, of Lake Luzerne; one granddaughter, Kirstin Jones of Lake Luzerne; two sisters, Gloria Cooley of Hudson Falls and Sylvia Gitto of Fort Edward; a special niece, Michele Springer and her husband, Robert, of Queensbury; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008, at the Church of the Holy Infancy, Lake Avenue, Lake Luzerne with the Rev. Charles Gaffigan, pastor, officiating. A Rite of Committal will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, at St. Paul's Cemetery, Hudson Falls. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth. The family suggests donations go to the charity of one's choice.
