Harry Wadleigh Obituary

GREENFIELD CENTER Harry A. Wadleigh Jr., 82, formerly of Comstock Road, Greenfield Center, passed away Thursday morning, June 19, 2008, at Vermont Veterans Home, Bennington, Vt. Born Feb. 29, 1926 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Harry A. Wadleigh Sr. and Blanche (Harris) Wadleigh. Harry grew up in Glens Falls, gaining his education from Glens Falls High School, then joined the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII, being honorably discharged March 3, 1946. After many years of dedicated service, Harry retired from Norton Sealants in Granville and then relocated to Greenfield Center. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his boys, and camping, gardening and especially a challenging round of golf, as well. One brother, Donald Wadleigh, and one stepson, Denny Holcomb predeceased him. Survivors include his five children: two daughters, Elaine Wheeler (David) of Fort Edward and Cynthia Schaffer (Bill) of Maryland; and three sons, Robert Wadleigh of Virginia, Bryan Wadleigh (Tina) of Georgia and Bruce Wadleigh (Shannon) of Illinois; four stepchildren: Debra Holcomb, Randy Holcomb, Susan Holcomb, and David Holcomb, (Tanya); his 11 grandchildren: Alex Wheeler of Surprise, Ariz., Beverly Wheeler of Glens Falls, Julia and Christie Day of Maryland, Michael, Gregory and Jennifer Wadleigh of Georgia, and Amber, Derek, and Danielle Wadleigh of Illinois; and his very special stepgrandchildren, Alex and Lindsey; two sisters, Virginia McKelvy of Oregon and Marcia Lipinski of Ballston Spa; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call upon the family, Sunday, June 22, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Phil Richards, pastor of Glens Falls Christ Church United Methodist, officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Bay Street Cemetery, Glens Falls. Condolences may be e-mailed through www.baker funeralhome.com, or mailed to Maynard D.
