Josephine DeVecchi Obituary

WHITEHALL Josephine M. DeVecchi, 85, a former resident of Skenesborough Harbor Apartments, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Orchards Nursing Center in Granville. Josie left her earthly loved ones to share eternal peace with loved ones who predeceased her and was surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 19, 1923, in Middlebury, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Giovanina (Ginnonie) Emilo. She enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed crafts and her plants. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, James H. Mitchell and Victor R. DeVecchi, one grandson, Grant R. Foster II, one sister, Mary Connolly and five brothers, Peter Emilo, Charles Emilo, Sam Emilo, James Emilo and Ralph Emilo. She is survived by two sons, James A. Mitchell and his companion, Sherry Shaw, of Granville and Craig J. DeVecchi of California; four daughters: Linda DeLorme and her companion, Richard Napier, of Crown Point, Tina J. DeVecchi of Granville, Josephine (JoJo) Ward of Fort Ann and Angela M. Foster of Comstock; one brother, Louis Emilo Sr. and his wife, Geraldine, of Middlebury, Vt.; one sister, Angelina Cuifo of South Burlington, Vt.; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Margaret Tatro of Bennington, Vt. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, in Whitehall, with the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Middlebury, Vt. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation in Josephine's name to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, the Granville Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 153, Granville, NY 12832 or the Skenesborough EMS, P. O. Box 333, Whitehall, NY 12887.
