Jennie Rodgers Obituary

LAKE LUZERNE Jennie Lou Rodgers, 86, died Wednesday morning, July 23, 2008, at the Landing in Queensbury. Born on Nov. 6, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Geertsma) Fowler. She was raised on a cattle ranch and was a graduate of Carter County High School in Ekalaka, Mont. She worked for Curtis Wright Aviation Plant in Patterson, N.J. during World War II. She later worked for many years as an executive secretary for Carl Citroen, Inc., Waldwick, N.J. Formerly a 42-year resident of Franklin Lakes, Jennie's love for horses brought her to Lake Luzerne where she volunteered countless hours working with the 4H Handicapped Riding Programs. She also enjoyed traveling, genealogy, flowers, and reading, her favorite book being "Gone With the Wind." She was a kilted member of the honored Clan Mac Lachlin Association, the Claflin Family Association, the Amateur Horsemen's Association, the Hadley Luzerne Historical Society and a volunteer at the Hadley Luzerne and Glens Falls Public Libraries. Jennie was predeceased by her husband, Donald Rodgers; sister, Gertrude Fowler Gross and two grandchildren, Ian and Wade Rodgers. She is survived by her children: Monte Rodgers and his wife, Bonnie, of Ramsey, N.J., Linda Pallack and her husband, Robert, of Tuxedo, N.Y., David Rodgers of Stamford, N.Y., and Dale Rodgers and his wife, Peggy, of Westford, Vt.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jennie's ancestry includes Victoria Claflin Woodhull, the first woman to run for president in 1872, with Fredrick Douglas on her ticket. Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. Jennie will be interred next to her husband, Donald in the family lot in Luzerne Cemetery, Lake Luzerne. Contributions in Jennie's memory may be directed to Double H Hole in the Woods Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Road, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846. Arrangements are under the direction of Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.

JEN'S FAMILY,
Our prayers are with you in this time of sorrow. We only knew Jen when she would visit my sister Carol Davey; they would come down to vist us here in Maryland.
Jen was a sweet, kind and loveable lady who really enjoyed life, conversation and people. We really enjoyed her visits.
We truly believe she is with the Lord, and still the same sweet lady we knew here on earth.
Thank you for letting us share our thoughts and prayers with you.
God Bless

Jennie Lou,

I will miss our long trail rides and lunches. Your beauty and integrity added luster to everything you touched. The view from "up there" should be even better than from the top of Potash Mountain...

Miss you and Love you.

Dear Rodgers family, Words cannot express my sorrow for you at this most difficult time. Jennie-Lou was out angel. She was always there for my ex-husband and I in any time of need. She was a great friend and asked for so little in return. I only hope she knew how greatful both Jeff and I were to her. Her love of people and generousity will be sadly missed. There are very few people like Mrs. Rodgers. Her children, whom she spoke of with such love should be so proud of the woman Jennie-Lou was. Her boots wont be filled. With my sincere sympathy, Linda Johnson-Mathews

Hello,

I did not know Mrs. Rodgers, but I just couldn't help commenting on how beautiful that picture is of her. I was surprised to read that she had not been a movie star.

My condolences to your family for your loss.

Sincerely,

Lou Hall Sr
