Marie Provost Obituary

SOUTH GLENS FALLS Marie Provost, 77, of Hamilton Street, passed away peacefully following a long illness on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital. Marie was born on Oct. 9, 1930, in Glens Falls; the daughter of Clifford and Gertrude (Mingo) King. She was a graduate of Glens Falls High School. On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 1949, she married George M. Provost and they settled in South Glens Falls to raise their family. Marie worked for many years at Barber's Market and other area stores but her years as a homemaker gave her the most pleasure. She always placed family at the center of her life. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was constantly surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She always placed others' needs above her own, making her home a welcoming place filled with food and laughter. She held a deep love of singing and dancing and was delighted by the simple elements of life - flowers, chocolate and large and frequent family gatherings. Friends and family will always remember her tireless spirit, warm and generous smile and unconquerable optimism. Marie was predeceased by her parents. Survivors besides her husband include her daughters: Phyllis Chandler and her husband, Joe, of Georgia; Suzanne MacMore and her husband, Bruce, of South Glens Falls; Joan Drollette and her husband, Mark, of South Glens Falls; her son, William Provost and his wife, Kimberly, of Queensbury. Marie is also survived by her grandchildren: Jason MacMore, Heather Seabury, Ann Marie Eichelberger and her husband, Chad, Chad MacMore, Bradley Provost, Eric Seabury, Travis LaPrairie, Ashley Provost and Logan Drollette; her sisters: Patricia Lewis, Joan Vaughn and Barbara Buckley and her husband, Tom; and her sister-in-law, Joan Provost. Friends and family may call on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Friday, July 25, 2008, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls. Burial will immediately follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Road, Queensbury, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie's name to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Square, Suite 21, Albany, NY 12210.

Dear Jack, Phyllis, Sue, Joanie, Billy and Family,

I was so sorry to hear of Marie's passing. She was such a nice lady, always had a smile on her face and a bubbly personality. I remember her well from my days of growing up in South Glens Falls and then as an adult when I attended functions at Billy & Kim's house. The love she had for her family was easily seen by all.

May the love and memories you shared together bring you comfort and peace in the difficult days ahead.

Love,

Doug & Theresa Vaughn
