Mildred K. "Millie" Pixley

DAY Mildred K. "Millie" Pixley, 72, a longtime resident of the town of Day, died Wednesdy, July 30, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a short illness. Born on Aug. 1, 1935 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Beatrice (Bull) Raynolds. Mrs. Pixley graduated from Corinth High School and married Milton C. Pixley on June 15, 1957 in Corinth. The couple first resided in South Corinth for many years and then lived in the town of Day for several years. He died Dec. 6, 1988 following 31 years of marriage. Mrs. Pixley was employed as a bartender at Betty and John's Tavern in Day for many years. She enjoyed bluegrass festivals, crafts, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her loving family, which includes her five children: Babette Czerw and her husband, Gary, of Amsterdam, Kelly Hopkins and her husband, Terry, of Queensbury, Eugene "Lurch" Pixley of Corinth, Milton Pixley of South Carolina and Robin Stokes and her husband, James, of North Carolina; one brother, Eugene Reynolds and his wife, Mary, of Corinth; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at Corinth Rural Cemetery, Route 9N, Corinth. At Millie's request, there are no calling hours scheduled. The family suggests that memorials in Millie's name go to the Cancer Center at St. Mary's Hospital, 427 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010. Arrangements are under the direction of the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.
