Anna B. LeGare

GRANVILLE Anna B. LeGare, 90, formerly of Queensbury and Albany, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at the Indian River Nursing Center, Granville, N.Y. Anna was born on Sept. 20, 1917, in the Bronx, New York City. She was the daughter of James L. and Catherine C (Sullivan) Bowen. Mrs. LeGare attended St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls. During the 1940's and 1950's, Anna practiced her Roman Catholic faith as a novice in the Order of Little Sisters of the Poor, located in Queens, N.Y. On May 13, 1961, she married Donald E. LeGare of Albany at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Albany, N.Y. After her marriage to Mr. LeGare, Anna stayed close to her beloved Catholic church by working in housekeeping for various Catholic churches in Albany. Shortly after her husband Donald's death in 1981, Anna moved to Queensbury and became a resident of the Adirondack Manor Adult Home on Bay Road. After a brief hospital stay in 1998, Anna moved to the Indian River Nursing Center where she resided until her death. Besides her husband Donald, Anna was also predeceased by her parents, James L. and Catherine Bowen, sisters, Norma Crosby and her husband, Robert, Jean B. Pollock, Elizabeth (Betty) Moynihan and her husband, John (Jack), brothers, James L. Bowen Jr. and his wife, Elsie and John Bowen and his wife Oletta (Chic). Anna is survived by her brother-in-law, Alfred Pollock of Cossayuna, N.Y. and Forest City, N.C. and many nieces and nephews. At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass to celebrate Anna's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls on Tuesday Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. A private burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury. The family would like to send thanks to Dr. M. Crossman and a very special thanks to all the nurses and staff at the Indian River Nursing Center for the wonderful, loving and compassionate care given to Anna over the years.
