Robert Corrigan Obituary

NORTH HUDSON and NOKOMIS, Fla. Robert J. Corrigan, 72, of Blue Ridge Road, passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at his home after a long illness. Born on May 4, 1935, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of Alice (Sullivan) Corrigan of Glen Lake and the late Archie P. Corrigan. Robert was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from Dec. 8, 1952, until Jan. 24, 1954. In 1955, he married Janet J. Gilman at St. Mary's Church in Hudson Falls. For many years, Robert worked for Pirelli Tire. He later took over the family business, Corrigan Tires, and then established Route 4 Enterprises. From 1990 until 1995, Robert served as the Kingsbury town supervisor. During his tenure as supervisor, he oversaw the construction of the Washington County Office Building and looked forward to its opening. His family looks forward to the opening of the time capsule in that building. In 1995, he resigned due to his illness. Robert enjoyed working, NASCAR races and he loved his dog Tipper. He took great pride in his ability to work with his hands, making something from nothing and giving it value. In his later years, Robert enjoyed the solitude of the woods and everything nature had to offer. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his wife, Janet. Survivors include his two children, Susan M. Staton of California and Michael J. Corrigan of Florida; his grandson, Cooper J. Staton of California; his brothers, William Corrigan of Florida, Patrick Corrigan and his wife, Darlene, of Hudson Falls, Thomas J. Corrigan and his wife, Susan, of Glen Lake; his sister, Kay Mary Williamson and her husband, Ronald, of Argyle; and his close friend, Mary Ordway; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
