Mary D. Riley

WHITEHALL Mary D. Riley, 94, formerly of Mountain Street, went peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at the Indian River Rehabilitation Center in Granville. Born on Oct. 13, 1913, in Truthville, she was the daughter of the late John and Minnie (LaPlant) Van Guilder and the wife of the late Master Sgt. Mike H. Riley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Herald Kobasa; two brothers, Louis Van Guilder and John Van Guilder; three sisters, Emma Daniels, Dorothy Roberts and Ruth Richards, a great-great-grandchild, Korey Briggs; sons-in-law, Peter Horan and William Herald and daughter-in-law, Lucille Riley. Mary is survived by a son, Henry Riley, of East Greenbush, two daughters, Patricia Horan Reed and her husband, Mike, of Canaan, Ga., and Thon Gebo and her husband, Tim, of Whitehall and son-in-law, John Kobasa of Troy. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Skene Street, Whitehall by the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall. Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation in Mary's name to Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 9 Wheeler Ave., Whitehall, N.Y. 12887.
