Ruth Munson Obituary

TOWN OF MOREAU Ruth (Faure) Munson, a special "Gramma," died unexpectedly at age 89, on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007. She was born April 7, 1918, in Schenectady, to Peter and Lillian (Chichester) Faure. Ruth graduated from Draper High School in 1935. She remained in Schenectady, and started working at General Electric. On July 20, 1940, she married Maynard Munson. They were married for 55 years, and moved to this area to raise their two sons. Ruth continued to work at GE, this time in Hudson Falls. She retired from there in 1981, and enjoyed meeting for lunch regularly with other retirees. Ruth was always kind to everyone, she was called "Gramma" even by those to whom she was not related. She enjoyed cooking, especially comfort foods and baking for others. The cookie jar was always filled with homemade cookies, even on the day she died. She always looked forward to having her family gather at her home to visit and share a meal. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Joyce, when she was a toddler, her husband, Maynard, who died in 1995, one brother, William Faure, and two sisters, Lillian Hughes and Edith Charette also died before her. The manner in which she lived her life, placing others before herself, will continue to serve as an example to her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include a son, Dean, and his wife, Peggie Munson, of Adirondack, and son, Richard, and his wife, Alicia Munson, of Alden, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Munson of Queensbury; grandchildren: Stacia, and her husband, Jason Springer, of South Glens Falls and Caleb and his wife, Maile Munson, of Natick, Mass., Doris, and her husband, Keith Topel, of Beaufort, S.C. and Tony Dettori of San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Quinton and Skyler Munson, all of South Glens Falls, Myshkin, Lydia and Beckett Munson, all of Natick, Mass., and Alex, Marina and Ricky Topel, all of Beaufort, S.C. Ruth has donated her body to Albany Medical College in order to continue to help others. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804 or High Peaks Hospice, 286 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801. There will be an open house at her home, 260 Burt Road, today, Oct. 25, 2007, from 2 to 6 p.m., where family will be welcoming those wishing to share memories and celebrate her life. Dean, Rick, and families, Aunt Ruth will truly be missed, but she will always be with us in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. I will always have that beautiful smile of hers and those twinkling eyes etched in my mind. I choose to celebrate her going home to be with her love ones who has already passed over. She finished her journy here on earth. I will never forget all the good times in my life that she shared with us. Being a child and sharing Schoon Lake camp with us. I have to tell you I hope to have just part of the energy she had at 73 going to Maryland for my niece Jolene's baby shower. She had to carry her own luggage across the airport and wouldn't let any of us help her with it. I had a hard time keeping up with her. It was such a wonderful time being together again. She will be missed at all the familiy gatherings. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Stay with the Angels and may God comfort you and bestow many blessings upon you and your families. With Love, Dawn and family

My heart goes out to you all in this sorrowful time. Aunt Ruthie was an angel sent from Above. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives...I mean TRULY lives, and Aunt Ruthie is one who was able to TRULY live. She touched the heart of everyone she came into contact with. Her smile was so soft and graceful. She will be sadly missed by all. Our family reunions will not be the same without her. May God Bless and Protect you all always. I know Aunt Ruthie is looking down upon us all, with all of her loved ones who have gone before her, protecting us, as Guardian Angels do. With deepest sympathy, Renee's daughter...Jolene

Dean, Rick, and families,
Aunt Ruth was a light in our lives. She was a lady of grace, and had such a gentle spirit about her. The twinkle in her eye always caught my attention, as it so resembled the same twinkle I saw in Ediths eye.
We always looked forward to her presence at any family function we invited her to. There are many memories from these last 10 years with her, as well as memories of Schroon Lake and camp from my childhood.
She will be surely missed.
It is important for all of us to remember her in life, not in death.
The tapestry of her life remains in and with those she left behind.
My deepest regrets and sympathy
