Glens Falls Harold J. "Sully" Sullivan, 75, of Glens Falls, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Nov. 27, 1931, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Anna (Noonan) Sullivan. Sully attended St. Mary's Academy before graduating from Glens Falls High School. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant, before being honorably discharged in 1955. Sully was proud of his service and enjoyed seeing the world and his time in the military. On Nov. 5, 1955, he married Mary Lou Maynard in St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls. They were married 50 wonderful years before her death on Aug. 15, 2007. For 40 years, he was the proud owner of Sullivan's Capitol Bar and Grill on Broad Street in Glens Falls. Before his illness, he was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling the North Country and loved people, the New York Yankees and Notre Dame football. Besides his parents and his loving wife Mary Lou (Maynard) Sullivan, he was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Sullivan. Survivors include his children, Deborah A. Sullivan and her partner, Kevin Dixon, of Glens Falls and Robert G. Sullivan and his wife, Donna McCarthy Sullivan, of Glens Falls; his two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Jillian Sullivan of Glens Falls; his niece, Janet Sullivan, of Boston; and his special nephews who supported him throughout his illness, John Sullivan and his wife, Debbie, of Glens Falls and Jim Sullivan of Queensbury. Also surviving him are all his "greatest guys in the whole world" at Sully's. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls. Burial will follow in Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Road, Queensbury. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at the Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury. Donations in his memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice, 286 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801. The family would like to thank Adirondack Cancer Care for all their support when the family needed them, and Glens Falls Hospital T2, especially Beth, for all their love and care.

I am a frequent visitor to the area from California, having spent many summers at Lake George as a child. I happened into Sullies by chance this summer, and a customer picked up Sullie and brought him to the bar.
The patrons said many customers pick him up, and this guy carried him to his truck, and then delivered him to a very appreciateve croud of customers.
I had never met the man before, but I could tell that he was very loved in the community. I share your grief for the loss of a very fine person.

To the Sullivan Family:
I was deeply saddened to hear of Harold's death. On a recent trip to Glens Falls, I visited with him and found him the same person I knew 40 years ago: laughing, with a positive outlook on life and a willingness to see only the best in people. He was always kind and generous to me and will always be a person that will be fondly remembered. My thoughts are with you!

My sincere condolences in the loss of your dad. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He always had a smile, a great sense of humor and truly cared for people. He's with your mom now and, I'm sure, happier than ever!! I will miss him and his hugs when I come "home" to visit. He truly is a special person.

Life is full of surprises. We didn't have the pleasure of getting to know your father or you, but your Mother was our cousin. Since we live in Orlando, FL we won't be able to attend the service but will have all of you in our thoughts and our prayers.
