Doris Mason Obituary

COXSACKIE Doris M. Mason, 85, of Van Dyck Street, Coxsackie, N.Y., died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at The Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, N.Y., following a brief illness. Born in Coxsackie on July 15, 1922, she was the daughter of Wallace and Frances (Klebes) Swartout. On July 28, 1945, Doris married Glendon N. Mason, who died Jan. 9, 1989. She was a life member of The First Reformed Church of W. Coxsackie, The Climax Grange, The Pomano Grange and the Coxsackie Senior Citizens. Doris loved to travel and was able to see much of the United States. Her flower gardens were a great source of enjoyment. In her later years, her "circle of friends" that afforded her an opportunity to get out of her home for a while was very important to her. But, most of all, her family was the center of her life. Doris keenly followed all the achievements of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her two sons, Bruce Mason and his wife, Leah, of Fort Ann and Kenneth Mason and his wife, Cynthia, of Saratoga Springs; three grandchildren, Wendy Webster and her husband, Gordon, of Ballston Lake, N.Y., Gregory Mason and his wife, Beverly, of Marlboro, Mass. and Melanie Palmer and her husband, Matthew, of Worcester, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Colby, Cadence and Riley Webster and Nathaniel Mason. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the W.C. Brady Funeral Home, 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie, N.Y., with the Rev. Richard Pruiksma officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29. The family has suggested memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
