Leslie Bouplon Obituary

Cambridge Leslie Jean (Wager) Bouplon, 60, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, after a courageous 16-month battle with cervical cancer. She was the beloved wife of Ronald L. Bouplon. Born Thursday, Feb. 20, 1947, in Bennington, she was the daughter of Everett and Elma (Ingalls) Wager. She attended Albany Business College after graduating from Bennington High School, Class of 1965. Leslie and Ron were married on Sept. 13, 1969, at The First Methodist Church in Bennington and have resided in Cambridge for 38 years. Leslie was employed at the office of Garrison Corporation in North Bennington for several years. She was then the bookkeeper at the Grand Union in Cambridge for 23 years, from its opening to its closing five years ago. Since then, she has been an accountant for United Counseling Service in Bennington. She was a member of the Embury United Methodist Church in Cambridge. Ron and Leslie owned and raced harness horses for many years. Many people will remember Leslie as an avid walker. She enjoyed flowers, reading the daily newspapers, drives through the countryside, spending time at the Bouplon family farm and, more recently, she enjoyed her baby granddaughter. She cherished her family, including her dog Abby, and "grand dogs" Pele and Bailey. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Terry Wager. Along with her husband, she is survived by three children, Shawn Bouplon of Cambridge, Renee Jean Bouplon, who recently returned to Cambridge to be with her mother, and Kean Bouplon (Robin Alvarez) of Albany; three brothers, Everett Wager and wife, Pam, and Thomas Wager, all of Bennington, and Timothy Wager of Canonsburg, Pa.; an uncle, Gerald Wager of Vergennes, Vt.; an aunt, Frances Bahan of Sunderland, Vt.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved granddaughter Sofia Jean Bouplon. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge. A funeral service, with the Rev. Jane Baker of the Embury United Methodist Church officiating, will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Agricultural Stewardship Association, 28 R Main St., Greenwich, NY 12834, to be placed in a dedicated fund to help protect the landscapes in the Cambridge area. Leslie was a wonderful friend, a devoted wife and mother. Her passing came much too soon but she will live on in the hearts of those she loved forever.

To the Bouplon & Wager families:
Leslie and I grew up together on Maple St, and later both our families moved to Clarks Woods. We were best friends throughout our school years, and even started our first jobs together at Polygraphic some 40+ years ago. You could not ask for a better friend, so sincere and giving. It was an honor to have her a my Maid of Honor, and God Mother to my first child. It is sad that our married lives pulled us in different directions, and although we may have grown apart, my love for her remains the same. I hope your fond memories will carry you through this difficult time.
