Donald Moon Obituary

QUEENSBURY Donald Moon, 82, of Aviation Road, died unexpectedly, Monday Nov. 5, 2007, at his home. Born in Glens Falls on March 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Lillian (Havern) Moon. Donald left school after the 10th grade to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served during World War II in the European Theater from 1942 to 1946, and received numerous medals. In 2001, the South Glens Falls school honored those veterans who left school to enlist with a GED. For 40-plus years, Don worked for General Electric Co. as an air-conditioning and refrigeration technician, retiring in January of 1989. He made many trips with his grandchildren, Bill, Deanna, and Donnean and enjoyed his great-grandchildren, Lydia, Rusty, Hannah and Logan. He loved to travel, visiting Hawaii, Florida, Myrtle Beach and making cross-country and day trips by car. Every year, Jean and Don traveled to Maine for their anniversary. Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his son, David, his son-in-law, Dick, and grandson, Bill. He looked forward to going out to eat with his family and friends at every chance he could. Donald married Jean Lydia Tefft on March 31, 1946, at the First Baptist Church of Glens Falls. Besides his parents, an infant son, John "Johnny" Harold Moon; brothers, Willard H. "Bill" Moon, Robert H. Moon, Danforth W. Moon and George L. Moon; his mother- and father-in-law, Theresa and Harold J. Tefft, whom he considered as a mother and father, and his bro-ther-in-law, Don- ald Newcomb, all predeceased him. Survivors, besides his loving wife of 61 years, include their son, David John Moon and his companion, Debbie Nolin, of Queensbury; their daughter, Donna Jean Davison-Smith and her husband, Richard C. Smith, of Queensbury; their grandchildren: Donnean T. Thrall and her husband, Jamie, of Wilton, Donald W. Moon, Deanna J. Moon, Russell Smith and his wife, Melanie, Richard Smith Jr. and his wife, Erin, all of Queensbury; his great-grandchildren: Lydia Thrall, Hannah, Logan and Rusty Smith; his brother, Harry H. "Bud" Moon of Queensbury; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean A. Moon, Sylvia Newcomb, Evelyn Moon, Ted Moon, Earl Tefft and his wife, Alice, and their children and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Merrilee, Clinton, John, Sue, Cherie, Gary, Janet, Lynda, Susan, Sharon, Pam, Jeff and Dennis.
