Muriel Rivers Obituary

South Glens Falls Muriel "Fay" Rivers, 68, of Spring Street, passed away at her home on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007. Born in Glens Falls on Dec. 5, 1938, she was the daughter of Gerald Wayne and Muriel Blanche (MacLeod) Hopkins. She graduated from South Glens Falls High School and married James Rivers Sr. on Dec. 7, 1956. They remained in South Glens Falls where she was a loving mother and housewife and they raised their six children. She enjoyed bingo and putting together puzzles, sitting on her front porch enjoying her neighbors and her time spent with her children and grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Rivers Sr., and a brother, Donald Hopkins, and her son-in-law, Timothy McCane. Survivors include her six children: James Rivers and his wife, Lillian, of Queensbury, and their daughters, Angela, Andrea and Jamie; Susan McCane and her companion, Frank Thornton, of South Glens Falls, and her sons, Timothy and William; Brenda Keyser and her husband, John, of Fort Edward, and their sons, Dylan and Lucas; Brian Rivers and his fiance, Sherry Svoboda, of South Glens Falls, and his daughter, Brienna; Donald Rivers and his wife, Julie, of South Glens Falls, and their sons, Jonathan, Jacob and Jordan; Scott Rivers and his wife, Kimberly, of Glens Falls, and their children, Brandon, Karissa and Nathan; five great-grandchildren: Hayden, Maddison and Kenny McCane and Carter and Joseph Baldwin; her brother, Gerald Wayne Hopkins Jr. and his wife, Mickey, of South Glens Falls; her brother-in-law, Harry Rivers and his wife, Sharon, of Fort Edward; her special friends Harry and Addie Rivers, Mary Ellen and Larry Stevens and Olean Hay of South Glens Falls and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls. E-mail condolences may be sent to www.kilmers.com. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward, officiating. Burial will be at Southside Cemetery, South Glens Falls at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Muriel's name to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave., Suite 21, Albany, NY 12210.

I WILL NEVER FORGET ALL MY GRANDMA DID FOR ME AND MY SISTERS THROUGHT THE YEARS. SHE LOVED PLAYING GAMES WITH US, SHE WOULD DO IT EVERY NIGHT IF SHE COULD. SHE DEF LEFT AN IMPRESSION ON HOW A GRANDMA IS AND SUPPOSED TO BE. I WILL ALWAYS THINK OF HER AND MY GRAMPA TOGETHER AND HAPPY FOREVER NOW!

As I'm sitting here, I'm thinking about all the times you were there when I needed you and I never really took the time to say thank you. You always put us kids first and then the grandchildren came along and they took the front seat. I wish I had taken more time to show you how much I loved you. Today we get ready to say goodbye. and remember the wonderful person you were and are. i admit that i am not ready for this and dont want to say goodbye just yet. i am going to miss dropping by at 2 in the morning to see you playing with your puzzles, or just sitting at the table having coffee. i'm sorry the last time i saw you i had to rush out, and believe me i regret it most. I just wanted to say that i love you, and hope to see you again. Also keep an eye on the guys, i think they where causing trouble waiting for you, lol.
