Marguerite Cotherman "Peg" Bloor

Marguerite Bloor Obituary

GLENS FALLS Marguerite "Peg" Cotherman Bloor, 91, of Harrison Avenue, died Monday morning, Nov. 12, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital. She passed peacefully four days after suffering a stroke at home. Born on Aug. 19, 1916, in Winnebago, Minn., she was the daughter of Edgar S. and Kittie Cotherman and was the youngest of 10 children. Her family moved to Stony Creek in 1924. Peg was formerly involved with family-operated dude ranches in the Lake Luzerne area. She was also a licensed practical nurse and employed as a liaison for the Office of the Aging, Lake George, for many years. Peg's love of life was contagious and she remained vibrant and active her entire life. At 91 years of age, she cooked for herself, lived independently, was a landlord, drove, tended her garden, exercised at the YMCA, read voraciously and made cookies and pies that were the highlight of countless family gatherings. She is survived by her only daughter, Patricia Horning and her husband, Donald, of Saratoga Springs; three grandchildren: Craig Horning, Alison (Horning) Connors and Cary Horning; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Horning, and many nieces and nephews. At Peg's request there are no calling hours scheduled. Graveside services will be conducted at Bolton Cemetery for family members. A memorial service is scheduled for this Friday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Methodist Church, Stewart Avenue, Bolton Landing and a reception to celebrate Peg's life will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peg's memory may be directed to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth St. NW, Washington, DC 20006-3517, phone number 1-800-555-9140, [email protected]. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne, NY 12846

I really enjoyed helpng Marguerite for these past couple years and will miss her too. I was impressed with her fortitude and the fact that she still drove her own car. Thank you for the chocolate chip cookies with the walnuts in them, a very fond memory for me now. Thank you...
