Doris French Obituary

BOLTON LANDING Doris M. French, 85, of Brook Street, has gone to be with her loved ones waiting for her on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Jan. 8, 1922, in Slyboro, near Granville, she was the daughter of Lester and Irene (Osborne) Bartley. Mrs. French graduated from Granville High School and from Mildred Elley Business School, Albany. She worked at American Locomotive in Schenectady where she met her future husband. Mrs. French enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, as well as creating gifts with others by sewing quilts and crocheting afghans. She was predeceased by her husband, Willis J. French in 1988; one daughter, Barbara French; one son, Glenn French; and three sisters: Helen Webster, Grace Mulhall and Catherine Moody. Immediate family includes her daughter, Elaine French of Bolton Landing; two sons, Fred and his wife, Gloria, of San Antonio, Texas and Richard and his wife, Candice, of Montgomery Village, Md.; six grandchildren: Vicky Bandy and her husband, Michael, Daphne, William, Diana, Andrew and Sara French; three great-grandchildren: Nathan and Monica Bandy and Bailey French; one brother, Frank Bartley and his wife, June, of North Granville and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Stafford Funeral Home Inc., 90 Montcalm St., Lake George, with the Rev. Carol Ames of United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bolton Rural Cemetery, Bolton Landing. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.
