Alice Carknard Obituary

VALLEY FALLS Alice E. Carknard, 75, of Route 67 in Valley Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at the Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle after a long and valiant struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on May 18, 1932, in Washington, D.C., to the late Robert and Mildred Ward Groves. Alice was the wife of Vincent S. Carknard, whom she married on May 11, 1951. Survivors in addition to her husband include two sons, Vincent B. (Pauline) Carknard of Buskirk and Gregory L. (Sue) Carknard of Valley Falls; two daughters, Vinette A. (Richard) Seidler of Bolton Landing and Eva M. (Vincent) Gregorek of Easton; one brother, Robert (Tina) Groves of Florida; two sisters, Gail (Ray) Sullivan of Green Island and Elsie (John) Pritchard of Pittstown; and is also survived by seven grandchildren Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life honoring Alice on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Easton United Methodist Church, Route 40 in Easton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association – NENY Chapter, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206 in Alice's memory. Tom and I would like to express our condolences to the Carknard Family on the passing of Mrs Carknard. While we didn't know Alice we are very fond of her grandson, Vinnie who is a wonderful young man and clearly comes from a very loving and warm family. Our sympathy to your entire family and may you sorrow be helped by remembering all the happy and joyful times you shared with your mother and grandmother.
