Richard Foster Obituary

HOOSICK FALLS Richard "Tink" Foster, 74, a resident of Hoosick Falls, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. He resided on Spicer Road with his wife, Geraldine (Eldred) Foster. Tink was born on Dec. 1, 1932, in Bennington, Vt. son of the late Frank and Agnes (White) Foster. Tink attended school in Hoosick Falls and later received his diploma from Berlin Central School. He then received his certification for computer programming. Tink worked many years as a carpenter and later in maintenance at Oak-Mitsui, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends and family and racing them with the rest of the world. He was an avid bowler in the BBQ men's league. When he could no longer do so, he turned his attention to being the biggest fan of the Panthers Bowling Team. Tink was a communicant of St. George's Catholic Church in Pittstown, N.Y. In recent years, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel No. 11071 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. Survivors, other than his wife, Geraldine, include his daughters, Gail Galusha of Latham, N.Y. and Kim Hathaway and husband, Nick, of White Creek, N.Y.; his son, Richard Foster Jr. and wife, Michelle, of Troy, N.Y.; brother, William Foster and wife, Mary, of Schenectady, N.Y.; grandchildren, Shane, Keith and Julie Hathaway, Nathan, Ryan, Lucas and Jonah Foster; and great-grandson, Hunter Hathaway. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, from St. George's Catholic Church, on Factory Hollow Road, in Pittstown. Burial will follow the Mass at Hoosick Rural Cemetery in Hoosick, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St. on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. George's Catholic Church, Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad or the Town of Pittstown Rescue Squad through the funeral home.

Grandma Foster...We were so deeply saddened to hear of Tink's passing.
"Grandpa" was a wonderful man and will be very missed. We had so much fun with him when our kids bowled. Either cheering them on or telling them how to do it right..it depended on the day. He tried to sound mean, but, he was just a big teddy bear. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Geri and family ~ our deepest sympathy on Tink's death. He was a special man. Remember him always being at the high school bowling matches, cheering the team on! He will be missed by many. May God grant you peace and strength in the days ahead and during this year of "firsts" without him.

And nothing seems the same
But when God calls us one by one
The chain will link again."
