William Ranous Obituary

WARRENSBURG William Roydon Ranous, 51, of Burdick Avenue, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at his home. Born July 5, 1956, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Bernice Snow of Lakewood, N.J. and the late Roydon Ranous. Bill, as he was referred to by all who love him, graduated from Keyport High School, N.J. in 1974. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served more than five years before his honorable discharge in 1980. He moved to the Adirondacks and later married Deborah Ann Bailey of Warrensburg on July 25, 1981. A retired Warren County Corrections Officer, Bill recently worked as a security guard at the Hyde Collection. He was an active member of the Warrensburg and Thurman Emergency Squads, due to his great love for helping others. Passionate about everything in life, he was thought of as the "Jack of all trades"! He was hardworking, talented, had a great sense of humor, and a heart of gold. Some things Bill most enjoyed were tricking out his vehicles and attending car shows with his son. He was an avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan, enjoyed building model cars, listening to music, and hanging out with his favorite Chihuahuas, Mico, Gizmo, Taco and Tazi. Besides his father, his father- in-law, Richard Bailey has also predeceased him. Besides his mother, Bernice, Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Debbie Ranous of Warrensburg; his son, Billy Ranous Jr. and his companion, Jennifer Smith of Glens Falls; his daughter, Aleisha VanAlen and her husband, Gene of Warrensburg; brother, Roydon (Jeffery) Ranous and his wife, Elaine; sisters, Joann Ranous and Michelle and Dennis Lowe all of Southern New Jersey; brother, Tommy Ranous of Pennsylvania; sister, Suzanne Ranous of Colorado; his mother-in- law, Rose Bailey of Warrensburg; brother-in-law, Richie Bailey and his wife, Cyndi of Warrensburg; sister- in-law, Sheila Curren and her husband, Dave of Bolton Landing and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Bill's family from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Members of the Warrensburg EMS will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today during the visitation at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve VanDixhorn, pastor of the Pine Knolls Alliance Church in South Glens Falls, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Warrensburg Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy make take the form of donations to the Warrensburg EMS, P.O. Box 157, Warrensburg, NY 12885. Bill, we remember your ready smile, your warm and lighthearted sense of humor, and always, regardless of how often or how seldom we saw you, you had an incredible rare friendliness about you, as though no time had passed between us at all. This world needs more real people like you and Deb. Our love, prayers and support go out to your precious family. 'wish we could see that smile once more, Bill, but just the same, time will not erase your memory. We will not forget you.

Debbie and family,

Words, however kind,
can't mend your heartache:
but those who care and
share your loss, wish you
comfort and peace of mind.
May you find strength
in the love of family
and in the warm embrace
of friends.
