Hollis R. "Holly" Hammond

PORT ORANGE, Fla. Mr. Hollis R. (Holly) Hammond, 78, of Wallace Drive, Port Orange, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Halifax Medical Center, Port Orange. Mr. Hammond was born in Glens Falls, and had lived here since 1959, coming from his birthplace. He retired as a sales representative for U. S. Food Service, Ormond Beach, Fla. Mr. Hammond was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a life member of VFW Post 3282 and a life member of American Legion Post 270, both in Port Orange; a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4089, Port Orange, and he was on the charter of Port Orange Elks Lodge 2723. Mr. Hammond is survived by his wife, Dale; three sons: Michael, South Glens Falls, Timothy, Hudson Falls, and Russell, Daytona Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren: Amber Hammond, Amy Hammond, Jennifer Hammond, Lindsay Hammond, and Ryan Hammond. Interment and military honors will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you, And whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard-working hands to rest.
