Jennie LaPoint Obituary

GLENS FALLS Jennie V. LaPoint, 91, passed away on Monday Nov. 19, 2007, at Eden Park Nursing Home, Glens Falls. Jennie was born on Dec. 31, 1915, in Granville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Frank and Serafina (Porta) Caruso. Jennie was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, where she served as an usher and fifth-grade catechist. She also worked at St. Mary's rectory on and off during the 1980s. She worked as a waitress at the Kansas Coffee Shop, T&T Restaurant and Young's Chinese Restaurant for 50 years before her retirement. Jennie married Harry G. LaPoint on Nov. 27, 1948. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Harry, her son, Buddy LaPoint, her sisters, Julia Meninna, Flora Grottoli, Angelina D' Armi, Emily Severance and Anna Van Dusen; her two brothers, Michael Caruso and Richard Caruso, also predeceased her. She is survived by her sister, Marge Orsini of South Glens Falls, and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at St. Mary's Church, 62 Warren St., Glens Falls, with Father Paul Cox officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. Family and friends may call on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the second floor staff at Eden Park Nursing Home for their loving care given to Jennie. In lieu of flowers, Jennie's family requests memorial donations to St. Mary's Church 62 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY 12801 or Eden Park Health Care Center, 170 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
