Harold Granger Obituary

PUTNAM STATION Harold James "Mort" Granger Sr., 60, of Fire House Lane, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga. Born in Ticonderoga, Jan. 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Harold S. and Elsie (O'Dell) Granger. Mr. Granger was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He has been a lifelong Putnam Station resident. He was employed as a truck driver for the town of Putnam Highway Department for more than 20 years. He was also a former Putnam volunteer fireman. Mort will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, whose life revolved around his family, especially his grandchildren, Dakota, Jordan, Cassidy and Nicholas, who knew him as "Papa." His favorite hobby was restoring antique cars. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one brother, David Granger, and one sister, Deborah Ann Granger. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Francene C. (Smith) Granger; one son, Harold "Jay" Granger Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Putnam Station; one daughter, Lori Ann McKee and her husband, Glenn, of Hague; two brothers, Douglas Granger of Esperance, and Steven Granger of Ticonderoga; and one sister, Gloria Genier, of Bridgeport, Conn. He is also survived by his four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the family plot of the Meadow Knoll Cemetery at Putnam Station. The Rev. Russell Bissell will officiate. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
