Terry Ashe Obituary

GLENS FALLS Terry E. Ashe, 63, of Sheridan Street, in Glens Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness. Born in Glens Falls, on May 27, 1944, he was the son of Dorus and Delima (Dessaint) Ashe of Hudson Falls. Terry was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve until his honorable discharge in July of 1971. In 1967, Terry married Anna Schrammel of Glens Falls with whom he had two children. Terry worked for Ciba-Geigy for 21 years and then spent the last 20 years as a sales representative for Mahoney Notifier. His love of upstate New York grew as he spent many days in the area meeting and getting to know families and businesses across the region. Terry and his wife enjoyed their many summers and weekends at their vacation home at Huletts Landing on Lake George. They spent their days with family and friends enjoying the beauty of the lake and spending time with their grandchildren. Terry was an avid baseball fan and loved to follow his Dodgers. Terry passed his passion on to his sons and spent endless summer days as their coach. Terry loved to volunteer his time to coach kids and also as president of the Glens Falls Little League from 1983 to 1984. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Anna; sons, Brian of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jeffrey and his wife, Kimberly, of Queensbury and their two sons, Jacob and Caleb. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls, on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sullivan Minahan & Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury. The family suggests donations be made to American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Weinhold and the staff at Glens Falls Hospital, Tower 2.

Brian and Jeff,

I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. As with all kids growning up there are few other parents other than your own you feel comfortable being around but your dad was that person. He was always interested in what people had to say.

Anna and family,
We will miss Terry's "quick wit and funny comments" around Pickeral Bay. Although we are miles away, our community up at the Lake is like our extended family. Terry was very much a part of that family and will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at your time of loss and grief.

Dear Ashe Family,
Am a friend of Brian's from Fort Fun (Collins), Colorado. Unfortunately, I never met Terry BUT I can say that he raised a very good man in Brian. All the group of friends, and the little kids out here hold Brian in high regard and enjoy his company. Through many late nights, mostly around a campfire we have heard stories from the lake and that "Dad is just one those guys that everyone likes". His kid is that way too.

Kind Regards,

Derek Filkins

Terry was a good man and he will be deeply missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with Anna, Jeff and Brian. In the 70's, I was the boys babysitter and even as a teenager, Terry was always one of the "cool" adults to know.

Anna, Brian, Jeffrey, and family,
My sincerest condolences to all of your family. I will always remember Terry's smile and the good times we spent working together at Mahoney Notify-Plus. It was always such a pleasure to run in to him and hear the pride in his voice as he spoke of your boys and grandsons. May your memories of the good times you shared give you comfort during this difficult time.

I am very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to each of you. Jeff, you have been on my mind all week. My daughter Meggie and I have been talking about childhood memories, so of course she heard a lot about you. She heard about each of you. I came across this poem and it reminded me so of you that I had to include it in my note.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dear Ashe Family,
I am very sad of the news of Terry's death. I knew Terry and worked with him for a short time at Mahoney Notifier. I was a dispatcher there. I also worked with Terry through the rescue squad in Whitehall when he sold us an alarm and door entry system. I remember Terry talking about the North country and his times in Huletts. He spoke often of his hikes on some of the trails in the Northeast. He will be missed. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the family and may you be conforted by the fact that Terry is now with his creator in his heavenly home, no longer suffering.

May God Bless you and keep you,
