Clinton Atwood Obituary

QUEENSBURY The family of Clinton "Clint" H. Atwood, 83, of Marcy Lane, Queensbury, is saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Vermont Veteran's Home in Bennington, Vt. Born in Lowville on June 5, 1924, he was the son of the late Clinton H. and Martha (Ganz) Atwood. On Jan. 30, 1943, Clint enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, participating in action during World War II against the enemy in the invasion of Normandy and also the Invasion of Southern France, also in the Guadalcanal. Being honorably discharged, July of 1946, Clint then entered the United States Army Reserves as an active reservist for 22 years. He was a Shrine and Masonic Temple member in Rochester as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his loving wife, Gene S. Atwood of Queensbury; three daughters: Sharon Wilson of Pittsford, N.Y., Wendy Atwood of Huntsville, Ala. and Lori Bishop and her husband, Gary, and their children, Brittany and Garret, all of Saratoga; and many dear friends. At Clint's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Friends are invited to join Clint's family at a graveside military ceremony Monday, Dec. 3, at noon at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Vermont Veteran's Home for their utmost care given to Clint during his last year.
