Alison Golinski Obituary

Saratoga Springs Alison Dorsey Golinski, 41, of Cobble Hill Drive, Gansevoort, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at Saratoga Hospital, after a very courageous struggle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born on Feb. 1, 1966, in Saratoga Springs, she is the youngest daughter of Dr. James and Patricia (Walsh) Dorsey and also the youngest of their six children. A graduate of Saratoga Central Catholic High School, she attended Adirondack Community College and Stratton School of Business. She and her husband, Gary Golinski, recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary. As a devoted wife and mother, Alison took great pride in keeping a beautiful home and loved entertaining her large family at holiday gatherings. She was also a talented interior decorator and enjoyed floral crafts and home design. Her daughter's school activities were always a priority and she never missed her cheerleading and other sporting events. Though her stay on earth was short, her sweet character will remain with us forever. In addition to her parents, her loving husband, Gary, and daughter, Megan (a senior at Saratoga Springs High School), survivors include her brother, James B. Dorsey Jr., and his companion, Gaela Schweizer; her sisters: Katherine (John) LaBoda, Mary L. Lee, Pamela (Bruce) Boghosian and Suzanne (George) Carlson; her uncles and aunts: Charles Bardino Jr. and the late Sally Walsh Bardino and Francis and Betty Dorsey, all of Saratoga Springs; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Ann Golinski; several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Joseph Bell, David Mastrianni, Edward Liebers, Michael Keefe, Paul Okosky and the nursing staff on A3 at Saratoga Hospital for their tender care and compassion. Special thank you to Karen Murdick, RN, who gave Alison unending encouragement and love. She was not only a special nurse and friend, but a support to all of Alison's family as well. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 30, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., by the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue. Memorials may be made in her name to "To Life," a non-profit community-based organization for cancer education and support organization affiliated with the Mollie Wilmont Radiation Oncology Center at Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Envelopes will be made available at the Burke Funeral Home. Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneral home.com.

Gary, Megan and family: Please know our prayers and well wishes go out to you at this time. If I was actually in the area instead of driving to our new location in northern California, I would have been there personally. We will keep you all in our prayers.
