Joe Wells Obituary

Athens, Ohio Joe Wells III, 60 of Athens, Ohio, died Oct. 2, 2007, at his home. Born Oct. 26, 1946, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Joseph Wells Jr. and Harriet Page Wells Helitzer and moved to Washington, D.C. at the age of 1. A 1965 graduate of Bethesda- Chevy Chase (Maryland) High School, he attended Southern Illinois University. Joe was a resident of Athens, Ohio since 1979. He was employed at Ohio University's WOUB AM and FM Radio and WOUB Television in their operations department, since 1983. Joe is survived by his stepfather, Melvin Helitzer of Athens; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond P. and Debra Wells of San Gabriel, Calif.; and an uncle and aunt, Jack and Jean Toomey Sr. of Fort Edward. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Alphonsie Page. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hud- son Falls and San Gabriel, Calif. Burial will in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Glens Falls. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Ohio.
