Mary Carr Obituary

Blue Mountain Lake Mary A. Carr, 86, of Durant Road, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 28, 2007, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Born on Jan. 27, 1921, she was the daughter of James and Mary (Dadey) McGraw. She married Harvey N. Carr on Sept. 19, 1943, in Fort Benning, Ga. Mr. Carr died on Dec. 17, 1991, following 48 years of marriage. Mary had lived in Rome, N.Y. for several years, as well as Boylston and Crogan. She later moved to Blue Mountain Lake and most recently in Canton, N.Y. She was a member of the Parker Benton American Legion Auxiliary, Indian Lake and the American Legion Auxiliary in Rome, N.Y., as well as a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Blue Mountain Lake. Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. Her faith was extremely important to her. She was predeceased by her husband; one son, Larry Carr; and a brother, Bill McGraw. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Nelson of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, David Carr and his wife, Denise, of Puyallup, Wash. and John Carr and his wife, Cathy, of Parishville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers: Joe McGraw and his wife, Diana, of Cooperville, Wash., Jay McGraw and his wife, Edie, of Clearwater, Fla., Ray McGraw and his wife, Patty, of Perrine, Fla. and Monsignor John McGraw of Dewitt; two sisters, Teresa Valerino and her husband, Fred, of Timonium, Md. and Alice Detore and her husband, Jim, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call today, Nov. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, 35 West Main St., Indian Lake. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, Dec. 1, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Blue Mountain Lake, with the Rev. Sony Pulickal, pastor, and Mary's brother, Monsignor John McGraw, concelebrating. Burial will be in Blue Mountain Lake Cemetery. Contributions in Mary's memory may be directed to St. Paul's Church, Blue Mountain Lake, NY 12812 or to the Blue Mountain Lake Ambulance Corps, Route 28, Blue Mountain Lake, NY 12812.
