Florence Marion Dunklee Shoemaker

Hague Florence Marion Dunklee Shoemaker, 83, of West Hague Road, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga. Born in Ticonderoga, on March 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Sarah (Vradenburgh) Denno. Mrs. Shoemaker had been a resident of Hague for most of her life. She was employed as a waitress for many years in several Hague and Ticonderoga restaurants. Mrs. Shoemaker was active in the Hague community. She was a member of the Hague Senior Citizens, the Hague Fish & Game Club and the Hague Fire Department. She was also the Hague Meals on Wheels driver coordinator, a member of the staff of the Hague Chronicle and the 1994 Hague Senior Citizen of the Year. She was predeceased by her husband, George D. Shoemaker Jr., on Oct. 3, 1999. She was also predeceased by one son, Edward T. Dunklee. Survivors include one son, Richard J. Dunklee and his wife, Annette, of Hague; one daughter, JoAnne D. Gore of Redwood City, Calif.; three stepchildren, Mary Shoemaker of Glens Falls, Sandra H. Shoemaker-Saxton of Saratoga Springs and George D. Shoemaker III of Thurman; and six grandchildren: Ann Blanchett of South Glens Falls, Pam Dunklee of Queensbury, Carol Outland of Tracy, Calif., Chad Dunklee of Marshville, N.C., Debby Canape of Queensbury and Ian Gore of Redwood City, Calif. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. at the family plot in the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Elliott A. Shaw of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hague Fire Department, Hague, NY 12836. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
