Richard Weiss Obituary

Day Richard H. Weiss, 87, died peacefully at Vitas Hospice in Miami Beach, Fla., on Nov. 14, 2007, after a short illness. Richard graduated from Cornell University in 1941 and cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in 1949. He served his country as a navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1945. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Dolly Strongin, his children: Richard J., Wendy Clark, John and Thomas, and their significant others, all of whom will miss his warmth, his wit and his wisdom. His grandchildren, Andy Clark & Zach Weiss, will cherish Gramp's memory forever. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the family's Sacandaga Lake home, at a future date, to celebrate his wonderful life. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne, N.Y.

Jane,
We moved to Assembly Point in 1977 and soon after met your dad at the Otyokwa meeting. I always enjoyed visiting with him at those meetings and when I walked by his home. He was so interesting and we had some nice chats. Reading his Obituary we are fascinated at the
life he lead and the incredible changes he encountered in his lifetime. Amazing were his accomplishments and
how proud he must have been.
He lived a very long life and I hope you and your family
will remember the happy times you shared with him and
your mother. May you all have many enjoyable years in
the new home you have built on the lake.
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Sincerely,
CB and Susan Leeser

We feel so very privileged to have shared treasured moments by the canal with Richard. Richard's warmth and affability were nothing less than exemplary, his generosity and wit the mark of true gentleman. We will miss him. We look forward to toasting him with a pisco sour, soon.
