Lawrence McDonald Obituary

MCDONALD, LAWRENCE JOSEPH, 82 - of Lacey Township, died June 21 at home. Born in Newark, he resided in Bloomfield until the mid 80's prior to moving to Lacey Township. Whether you knew him as "Mac," "LJ" or Larry, you knew a man who loved life and had the gift of humor. Larry was an avid sportsman, superb athlete and voracious reader. He remained passionate about politics, casting his last vote in the 2008 Presidential Primary. Mr. McDonald loved his family, laughed with his friends and co-workers and was kind to many that lived on the edge of society. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Irene(nee Wolf) also of Bloomfield. Their first date was in 1941. They married in 1947 upon his return from Europe having served in the Army during WWII during the occupation in Germany. He also leaves his daughter Maureen and her husband Thomas Dent of Manahawkin; his granddaughter Allison & her husband James Ortlieb of Chicago, IL; & great-grandchildren Zachary & Natalie. Rather then mourn his death his family hopes you will celebrate a life well lived with your loved ones. His ashes will be committed to the Sea which he loved under the direction of the Growney Funeral Home, Forked River. His spirit is already on its next great adventure.
