Bettye Waller Obituary



WALLER, BETTYE L., - on Thursday, July 03, 2008 at Approximately 2:15 am the death angel visited the Mainland Manor in Pleasantville to remove from our midst another soul, Ms. Bettye Lou Waller. She was a devoted, kind and loyal Christian who was loved and respected by many. Bettye was born in South Boston, Virginia, on September 01, 1945, to the late Edward and Lucille Waller Chandler. Bettye was educated in the Halifax County Public School Systems, and later in life she move to Atlantic City, where she raised her two sons Damon and the late Sean Waller. Bettye was a well driven and goal oriented; she first received an Associate Degree from Atlantic Community College and later her Bachelors' Degree from Stockton State College in Theology and Ministry and lastly a PhD in Theology and Ministry. She leaves to cherish her memories her son Damon, Sr. and his devoted companion Evonne Blakely, of Atlantic City, five grandchildren Sean Waller, Jr. of Winston-Salem, N.C. Talib Lampkin, Damon Waller, Jr, Ty-Lil Waller, and Kendra Waller all of Atlantic City, one great-grandchild Xyiar Waller of Winston-Salem, N.C. two sisters Doris Williams of Spokane, Washington, and Gail Chandler of South Boston, Virginia and one brother Irving Chandler of South Boston, VA., a devoted niece Andrea Woodson, two long time friends, Kate Buster and Sis. Ann Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Sean, two sisters Ida Wyatt and Nannie Chandler; two brothers Edward Chandler, Jr. and Larry Chandler . Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 @ The Second Baptist Church 110 Rev Dr. Issac S. Cole Plaza Atlantic City,08401 @11:00AM; where family and friends may view from 9AM-11AM. I remember Ms. Bettye well, from my days living "Back Maryland". I also got to know her as a co-worker when we used to be F&B cashiers at Resorts in the 80's.

She was a nice woman, very steeped in The Word and most of all, she practice what she preached.
