David Vanaman Obituary

VANAMAN, DAVID K. 52 - of Millville, died suddenly Friday, July 11, 2008, in Vineland, in a one-car accident. Born in Vineland, he grew up in Millville and was a graduate of Millville High School, class of 1974. He attended the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Pomona. He had worked as a desk clerk with Ramada Inn of Vineland. Prior to that he had worked for many years in the family business, Vanaman's Store, corner of Buck and Main Streets, Millville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Millville. An avid sports fan through the years, David maintained and traded his collection of football and baseball cards. As a youth he had played in both the baseball Little and Babe Ruth Leagues. Briefly, he also played football. Those who knew David would agree that Mandy, his late dachshund, and memories of her, made his life better. He is survived by his mother Joyce G. Vanaman of Millville; his aunt Mimi (husband Clyde) Rhubart of Florida; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father Harold "Bud" Vanaman. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 7 p.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville, with the Rev. Dr. Steven Shuster, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. There will be a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, donations to the First United Methodist Church SHINE program, 201 N. Second Street, Millville, NJ 08332. Tributes and condolences to the family may be emailed to: Christyfuneralservice.com

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
