John Danzenbaker Obituary



DANZENBAKER, JOHN DuBREE 89, - of Linwood, died at home on July 14, 2008. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1942 to 1964 in the United States, England, France, Japan, Korea and Iran and was a World War II and Korean War Veteran. He retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. From 1964 to 1977 he worked at FAA Atlantic City. After that he traveled the world, going to over 70 countries in search of birds, reaching prominence in that field. He was a mentor to numerous bird enthusiasts and tireless supporter of several conservation organizations dedicated to the preservation of wildlife habitat lover. Survived by his wife Sylvie and sons John Michael and his wife Lee and James Christian. Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, July 19th at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Linwood where friends may call from 10:30 am until time of Mass. Burial to follow at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House, 929 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. Arrangements by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home.

Birds were not John's only interest. He could entertain us (and especially my boys Christophe and Marc) with many animal stories. His patience and knack for conveying his passions were wonderful. Sylvie, please accept our sincere condolences.
