Edith R. Swain

SWAIN, EDITH R., (NEE KISBY), 94, - of Oxford, NC, passed away on July 3rd in Tempe, AZ. She was born in Yonkers, NY to the late Charles and Constance Kisby. She was formerly of Pleasantville and Northfield, and lastly of North Carolina. Edith worked at Brewin's Stocking Factory, Hornberger's Bakery, Boardwalk National Bank in Atlantic City, and at Northfield schools. She was a member of the Charles H. Mann Chapter of the Eastern Star, in Pleasantville. Edith also volunteered at Shore Memorial Hospital, ACMC - Mainland Division, and Gracie Church in Tempe, AZ. Her grea joys were her family and their gatherings, and spending time with her friends. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Henry M. Swain; her brothers: Charles E. Kisby, Doug Kisby and Edgar Kisby; her sisters: Ruth Kisby Ross and Irene Kisby Adams; and her son in law, Norman Curry. She is survived by her children: June E. Curry and William (Doris) Swain; her grandchildren: William (Sandy) Curry, Cheryl (David) Johnston, Norman (Annmarie) Curry, Eileen (Mark) Lanham, and Michael (Sharon) Swain; her eight great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren, and one on the way. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19th, at 2:00pm, at Central United Methodist Church, Shore Road and Central Ave, Linwood. Friends may call from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Friends Central Cemetery, Linwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
