James Delcher

DELCHER, JAMES 77, - of Margate, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. He was born in Somers Point to James and Kathryn Delcher. Jim attended local Public Schools and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1949. Jim graduated Montgomery College in 1951. On August 30, 1952 he married Gladys Kent his beloved wife. Jim began working for the Atlantic City Electric Company in 1952. He retired as a Supervisor of Systems Operations in 1993 after 41 years of service. Jim enjoyed reading, going to the beach and spending time with his family. He was a caring, devoted, and loving husband father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing him. Jim was predeceased by his wife Gladys (2007) and his sons Gary W. (2000) and James Jr. (2006). Surviving are his son Mark of Margate, daughter Kathy Band and husband Bill of Egg Harbor Township; brother Ernie Delcher (Edith) of Linwood; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Linda of Las Vegas, NV and Mary of Atlantic City and many nephews and nieces. Funeral Services will be held 11:00a.m. Monday July 21, 2008 at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road Linwood, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Cemetery Ocean View. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Holy Redeemer Hospice 8550 Delilah Road.
